This film triptych deals with prostitutes in Thailand, Mexico, and Bangladesh. The stories are about longings, hopes, and needs - those of these women themselves and those they fulfill for others - about the brutalities they experience and those they impose. The premise of the film is that these women can tell us more about the relationships between men and women than anyone else, for these women have physically, mentally, and emotionally experienced all that can take place between a man and a woman.
They have awakened desires, spurned passions, fulfilled fantasies, and allayed fears. For this they have always received money, but it has not made their lives rich in anything but stories and history.

Das filmische Triptychon erzählt von Prostituierten in Thailand, Mexiko und Bangladesh. Die Geschichten kreisen um die Sehnsüchte, Hoffnungen und Bedürfnisse, die sie selbst haben – und um die, die sie anderen erfüllen. Um die Brutalitäten, die sie erfahren – und die, die sie anwenden.
Der Film geht davon aus, dass sie mehr über die Beziehungen zwischen Männern und Frauen erzählen können als irgendjemand sonst, weil sie alles, was in diesen Beziehungen geschehen kann, am eigenen Körper, an Geist und Seele erfahren und erlebt haben. Sie haben Begierden erweckt, Leidenschaften abgewiesen, Fantasien erfüllt und Ängste beruhigt. Und sie haben immer Geld dafür bekommen – aber wenige sind dabei an etwas anderem reich geworden als an Geschichten und Geschichte.
